Holiday Greetings
With Thanksgiving only three days in the rear-view mirror, we want to thank all those who have made the Rule of the Month articles successful and one of the more popular items in the OGA newsletter and on the association’s website.
When we started this column and our OGA Rules Education work eleven years ago, we had no idea where it would lead. For both of us it became a tremendously rewarding experience that would not have been possible without the support and help of many. A special thank you to former OGA CEO Barb Tramell, current CEO Rick Rangel, Brent Whittaker (OGA Senior Director of Championships and Events), Kelly Neely (Senior Director of Handicapping and Course Rating), along with many others of the OGA staff and the volunteer community of the Oregon Golf Association. And a special thanks to USGA Senior Director of Rules of Golf and Amateur Status, Craig Winter, whose shoes we tried to fill when he left the OGA in 2013.
But the real people we want to thank are our readers and those that attended our Rules of Golf workshops over the years. You were the golfers we truly worked for. Every article that we wrote, and every class that we taught, we strived to make the Rules of Golf fun and relatable to you. Thank you for the privilege. Thank you for the time you spent with us (there is no present like the time). Thank you for your questions. And thank you for your interest in the Rules of Golf.
We have made a tough decision to discontinue writing this article and teaching the Rules of Golf workshops. We look forward to helping the OGA in any way we can in the future.
“There is no such thing as an ending, just a place where you leave the story”
We hope we have made a difference.
We wish everyone a happy holiday season and a bright new year.
See you on the golf course.
