Recap: 115th Oregon Amateur Championship, Day 5

By Oregon Golf Association

As the field dwindles, we started the Friday morning with eight players remaining in each field before and ended the day with our finals matches set. Oswego Lake Country Club continues to bring the best golf out of our competitors due to the premium conditions. With the winners each receiving an exemption into the U.S. Amateur championship, the players have their eyes on the priced but needed to advance through two matches on Friday. Onto the recap...

Men's Quarterfinals:

- Adam Harrington trailed early, falling 2down through two holes, only to bounce back and defeat Collin Hodgkinson 4&3. After making the turn at all square, Harrington won holes 10, 12, 14, and 15 to close the match.

- Harrison Moir jumped out to an early 6up through nine lead against Nilay Naik. Naik ended up winning three holes on the back, but Moir ultimately cruised to a 3&2 victory.

- Zach Foushee only lost one hole to Naoki Easterday continuing his dominant form, winning 5&3.

- Landon Banks took a 1up lead on the 15th and held on to defeat Nigel Lett in the most exciting matchup of the quarterfinals. In a back and forth affair, only five holes were halved throughout the morning round.

Women's Quarterfinals:

- Yvonne Vinceri continued her strong play, defeating Elli Gordon 3&2. Vinceri only lost one hole on the day, when Gordon made birdie on the difficult downhill 8th hole.

- Krissy Carman is no stranger to match play and took a 1up lead into the turn against Montgomery Ferreira. Carman ultimately won the 12th and 14th holes to cushion her lead, also winning 3&2.

- Hannah Swanson and Kate Ly duked it out on the front nine as only two holes were halved and Swanson held a 1up lead going into the back nine. She made back to back birdies on the 11th and 12th holes to take a commanding lead before winning 4&3.

- Defending champ Kyra Ly's steady play continued as her front nine score of 37 was good enough to hold a 1up lead. She won two more holes on the back nine to defeat Gretchen Johnson 3&2.

Men's Semifinals:

- Harrison Moir ultimately ended medalist Adam Harrington's run with a 3&1 victory to advance to the finals. Both players battled through the first 11 holes as 1up was the largest lead on either side before Moir won the 12th, 15th, and 17th holes.

- Zach Foushee seemingly cannot be stopped as he won his 11th consecutive match going back to the 2023 championship. Foushee won seven holes on the day, defeating Landon Banks, who's primary highlight included an eagle on the par 4, 9th.

Women's Semifinals:

- Krissy Carman's long championship continued as she needed 21 holes to defeat Yvonne Vinceri. In a match where each player won five holes in regulation, Carman's birdie on the 3rd playoff hole was enough to advance to the championship match.

- Hannah Swanson fell 1down to Kyra Ly early in the match, but went onto win four holes before closing the match 3&1 on the 17th hole.

The championship match is set with defending champ Zach Foushee facing Harrison Moir and 2016 champ Krissy Carman facing Hannah Swanson.
