A legendary streak continued and new contenders emerged at the 42nd Oregon Senior Women’s Amateur Championship, held June 18–21 at the impeccably prepared Tualatin Country Club. The week delivered championship-caliber competition and a familiar name at the top: Lara Tennant, who captured her ninth consecutive title, extending one of the most dominant streaks in Oregon Golf Association history.

Stroke Play Qualifying Recap
The field was set following a competitive stroke play qualifier that saw Katy Wright earn medalist honors with a round of 79 (+7). Wright was nearly flawless on the front nine, carding a 2-under 35 before windy conditions made the back nine a grind.

Cappy Mack, a 2024 semifinalist, rode a hot stretch with three straight birdies on holes 13–15 to post an 80 (+8) and secure the No. 3 seed. Chung Ching Ng matched Mack at +8 to earn the No. 4 seed, while fellow 2024 semifinalist Loree McKay rounded out the top five.

As the eight-time defending champion, Lara Tennant did not participate in qualifying and entered match play automatically as the No. 2 seed.

First Round Match Play Highlights
In the upper bracket, the top seeds delivered with clinical performances:
- Katy Wright held off a spirited challenge from Joori Kim, winning 3&2.
- Tandi Thomas strung together victories on holes 12–14 to close out her match 3&2.
- Chung Ching Ng built an early lead to defeat Jamie Chianello by the same score.
- Loree McKay mounted a strong push from holes 9 to 14 and clinched her win on the 16th.

In the lower bracket, it was mostly business as usual for the higher seeds:
- Lisa Poritz provided the upset of the round, defeating Yon Okinawa 3&2 by winning four straight holes from 11 through 14.
- Lara Tennant overcame a slow start, turning a 2-down deficit through 5 into a convincing win by taking five of the final eight holes.
- Cappy Mack surged on the back nine with five straight wins to advance.
- Rosie Cook controlled her match from the start, defeating 2024 finalist Anita Rosemeyer 4&3.

Quarterfinals Highlights
Tandi Thomas claimed the round’s marquee upset, defeating medalist Katy Wright in a back-and-forth battle that ended 2&1 on the 17th.

Loree McKay emerged victorious in a tightly contested match with Chung Ching Ng, winning with a par on the first extra hole.

Lara Tennant found her rhythm early, winning nine consecutive holes en route to a win over Lisa Poritz.

Rosie Cook maintained her excellent form, pulling away from Cappy Mack after holding a 2-up lead at the turn and sealing a 3&2 victory.

Semifinals
Two of the most consistent players of the week emerged in the final.

Loree McKay jumped out to a 3-up lead at the turn against Tandi Thomas, holding steady down the stretch to post a 3&2 win and reach the final.

In the other semifinal, Lara Tennant and Rosie Cook engaged in a thrilling back-and-forth match. Each player won five holes in regulation before Tennant advanced with a par on the second extra hole, sealing a dramatic 20-hole victory.

Final: Lara Tennant Makes It Nine Straight
With a grueling 20-hole victory behind her, Lara Tennant was all business in Saturday’s final. Facing a formidable opponent in Loree McKay, Tennant came out firing—winning five holes on the front nine before McKay conceded the match at the turn. The win marked Tennant’s ninth consecutive Oregon Senior Women’s Amateur title and extended her match play unbeaten streak to over 36 consecutive matches.

“Tualatin CC delivered a championship-caliber tough yet fair test,” said OGA CEO Rick Rangel. “Lara Tennant extending her unbeaten streak to over 36 straight matches while on her way to nine straight Senior Women’s titles is legendary.”
